Redruth Soup Night

Pitching at Redruth Soup Night

We had a great evening at Redruth Soup Night, where we pitched our vision for a weekly invention club—and walked away with £300 to make it happen!

What is Redruth Soup Night?
For those who don’t know, Redruth Soup Night is a brilliant community event that brings together local people, ideas, and, of course, soup! Creators and community leaders present projects that need a boost, and attendees vote on which idea they’d like to support. The night’s donations go to the winning pitch to help make it a reality. This time, Fluxus Cornwall CIC was honoured to take home the pot, thanks to everyone who believed in our idea.

Why We Pitched an Invention Club
Fluxus Cornwall CIC has always been about bringing creativity, learning, and community spirit to the forefront of Redruth. We’ve seen a growing interest in technology, mechanics, and hands-on learning among all ages, and we believe an invention club will be the perfect way to channel that interest. Our club aims to inspire creativity and learning through electronics, coding, game design, and much more.

How We’ll Use the Funds
With this £300 prize, we’ll be able to buy new equipment for our sessions, including additional Arduino kits. These will allow participants to work on individual projects, exploring the fundamentals of circuitry and coding in an approachable way. This investment means we can bring more people into the fold—more resources mean more participants can engage with the technology and ideas we love to share.

What’s Next?
The weekly invention club will be hosted every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at The Art Room in Redruth. We welcome anyone curious, creative, or hands-on, no matter their skill level. Whether you’re interested in electronics, game design, or simply looking to tinker and learn something new, there’s a place for you here.

Thank you to everyone who voted for us and to the organisers of Redruth Soup Night for creating a space where ideas can grow. We’re excited to see what inventions come to life in the coming weeks and months, thanks to this community support.

If you’re curious to join or just want to follow our journey, keep an eye on our updates. We’ll be sharing stories, projects, and maybe even a few inventions soon!
